Whoomp There It.....Went???
I have been back from NYC for a week now. I went up with my good friend Sam to visit Elizabeth and Derek. And who could forget little Lemuel, oh wait there are more, the Costellos and the Kaufmanns.
We had a wonderful time visiting. For those that don’t know I used to live up in NYC with all of these people. Well we didn’t all live together per say but there are people in the neighborhood who always wondered. They have a wonderful set up that makes you feel like you have this enormous family. I miss it up there mainly because they are all such great people.
For the ride up Sam and I rented a car, a Luxury car. It was a Cadillac something or other. I am just not a car spaz so it was ok, definitely not a family car. What we or I did love about the car was the satellite radio. See Sam and I are on a totally different wavelength when it comes to music lately. He is really into rap and I am more into the indi sceen….if that even I have no idea where my tastes fit. Either way I knew I would not be able to handle a 12 hr drive with straight rap and Sam doesn’t even consider my music. Here is where the satellite radio came in. It took us forever to figure it out, or for Sam to figure it out. I didn’t touch the thing. We settled on a 90’s radio station for 90% of the time in the car. Any other day I would have been wishing for something else but being that Sam and I have been friends throughout that entire decade we A) knew all the songs and B) reminisced about what memories they brought back. Lord did we ever laugh a lot at the songs and the memories….oh and the people in the memories. We kept laughing at the idea of calling the people from out past and letting them listen to the music. In fact I think we did try to call at least one…..but no answer.
We were entertained with songs like “I want it that way”-Backstreet Boys (Sam’s favorite), “Jump Around”- House of Pain, “I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles) – the Proclaimers, Everlast, Third Eye Blind, Sublime, Collective Soul, Salt-n-Pepa, and who could forget “Whoop there it is”- Tag Team. Boy did I feel like I had gone back in time, just Sam and I on another road trip. Luckily we did change the channel for those like Bryan Adams, Phil Collins, and Edwin McCain. At least there was that.
All I want to say is that I had a wonderful time on the road trip and for our time visiting nyc. I am glad to be back with my family….time to start buckling down and getting a baby room ready. I am 20 weeks today and for those that don’t know we will be having another boy. I have a MAJOR job ahead of me when I try to clean out the computer room, I will also be trying my hand at ebay….at least that is the plan I have in my head. Either way I must get rid of a lot of junk in the next 20 weeks….fun fun.
